Le'Veon Bell will not need surgery, fantasy owners breathe in relief

Le'Veon Bell got some good news on his foot sprain--he won't require surgery. We break down the fantasy implications.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain, but the Steelers got some good news when it was revealed he won't require surgery. He will be out for at least a week.

Bell suffered the injury in last week's preseason game. The team initially feared that it was a Lisfranc injury that would require surgery, keeping him out for most of the season. A second opinion on the foot confirmed that surgery won't be necessary. An earlier report stated that he will be out for 6-8 weeks.

Fantasy impact: This is about the best-case scenario for Bell and fantasy owners, but there is still no concrete timetable on his return and he's not expected to be ready for the regular season. Consider him week to week for now.

The Steelers will go with the underwhelming duo of Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. Neither player had much fantasy value last season and there's little reason to target them in drafts.
