Dennis Pitta to be placed on injured reserve-designated to return, fantasy value still alive

Dennis Pitta's season isn't over yet - Rob Carr

The Ravens will place Dennis Pitta on injured reserve-designated to return. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta will be placed on injured reserve-designated to return next week. Per league rules, Pitta will be out for at least the first six weeks.

He's working really hard," coach John Harbaugh said. "He's had no setbacks, and there's optimism." Pitta suffered a dislocated hip and most reports had him out for the season. The Ravens have been desperately seeking pass catchers and brought in aging Dallas Clark and Brandon Stokley.

Fantasy impact: Simply put, unless your league has an IR spot, this news doesn't interest you for the most part. If you do have an IR spot, Pitta is a great player to put on your team. A dislocated hip is not something that heals quickly, but the Ravens need Pitta so badly, that they're not ready to give up on him. He could have been a top-five TE, so most league owners that didn't grab a tight end early, should keep an eye on the news for Pitta.
