Ryan Broyles, Lions being cautious early in preseason; fantasy owners approve

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles missed practice on Wednesday but says it's not a concern. We break down the fantasy implications.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles missed a workout on Wednesday morning, although neither he nor the team are too worried about it. Broyles tells MLive.com that his absence was precautionary as he recovers from the torn ACL he suffered last season.

Broyles says he expects to play in Friday's preseason game against the New York Jets and says he skipped Wednesday's workout because of general soreness. Broyles had 22 catches for 310 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Fantasy Impact: Broyles plays in an offense where he could have some solid weeks. Defenses will obviously focus on Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush, which means there could be opportunities for other players to get chances.

Fantasy owners should monitor his health and production in the preseason, although he could still be worth a late-round flyer in some deeper leagues and PPR formats.
