Detroit Lions quarterback isn't going to see much action on Friday as the team opens up preseason play against the New York Jets. Stafford said Thursday (via detroitlions.com) that the plan is for him to play a couple of series.
Stafford is coming off a season in which threw for 4,967 yards and 20 touchdowns, and most of that was directed toward Calvin Johnson.
Fantasy Impact: It's hard to knock a quarterback in fantasy who throws for nearly 5,000 yards but Stafford has been sliding in fantasy drafts to about the 6th round in 12-team formats. This is likely because owners are drafting at other positions but this shows that there is value at quarterback on Draft Day if an owner misses out on an elite passer in the early rounds.
Stafford has Johnson and the Lions have Reggie Bush, who will be a very good option out of the backfield for the Detroit offense. A patient owner could end up with a very good quarterback heading into Week 1.
