Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Hillis suffered a hyperextended knee during Thursday's 44-16 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The injury is not believed to be season ending, although there is no timetable for his return at the moment.
The Bucs signed Hillis to a one-year deal in the offseason. He rushed for 309 yards and one touchdown in 13 games with the Kansas City Chiefs last season.
Fantasy impact: Hillis was fighting for a roster spot, possibly competing for the fullback spot with Brian Leonard. This injury obviously throws a wrench into those plans, and he's no longer a guarantee to make a roster spot.
It's becoming more and more obvious that Hillis' 2010 season was a fluke. He hasn't been fantasy-relevant since then and probably won't be a factor this year either. Michael Smith and Mike James are currently battling Leonard to be Doug Martin's main fantasy handcuff.
