Week 1 was the week of the tight end. Of the top-12 flex options in standard leagues, four of them were tight ends -- Vernon Davis, Jason Witten, Julius Thomas and Jared Cook. All four of those fine fellow scored twice while nine other tight ends hit pay dirt.
Most of the tight ends that provided us with a lot of hype have panned out. Jordan Cameron, Jared Cook, Martellus Bennett and Brandon Myers made their owners very happy. If you took a chance on someone like Zach Sudfeld, you might want to move on to greener pastures considering he's dealing with a hamstring injury.
Julius Thomas, Denver Broncos (owned in 55 percent of leagues)
It is safe to say that ownership percentage will be changing considerably once waivers clear on Tuesday or Wednesday. Thomas was the talk of the fantasy town on Thursday with his two-TD, five-catch, 110-yard explosion against the Ravens. He's a must-own guy.
Kellen Winslow II, New York Jets (owned in 4 percent of leagues)
K2 looks to have developed a rapport with rookie QB Geno Smith, reeling in seven of his eight targets for 78 yards and a TD. The Jets also lost Jeremy Kerley to a concussion, so Winslow might even be in better shape against the Patriots.
He obviously carries some serious injury risk, but he is a strong bet to lead the Jets in receiving TDs as long as he's healthy. The Jets are going to keep a tight leash on Geno and he probably won't be stretching the field much. What's more, their running backs can't catch, so K2 is going to be the primary hot receiver. He's a decent add in two-TE leagues.
Tyler Eifert, Cincinnati Bengals (owned in 21 percent of leagues)
It's going to be hard to fall in love with any other receiver on Cincy not named A.J. Green since he's an absolute monster, but Eifert looked good on Sunday. He caught all five of his targets, ranking second on the team in yards, targets and receptions.
The Bears have a solid D and Cincy was still able to put up some points, so there should be better things to come from the Notre Dame product. He does have a lower upside with Jermaine Gresham in the fold.
Dallas Clark, Baltimore Ravens (owned in 5 percent of leagues)
To be clear, I'm not a big Clark fan. He lacks big-play ability and he just didn't look comfortable out there on Thursday. That said, it's hard to ignore a guy that saw 12 targets, yielding seven receptions for 87 yards. The Ravens really need some help on offense and anyone that watched Anquan Boldin tear it up on Sunday can tell you a few reasons why.
Clark has some health issues and there's a good chance that his Week 1 will be his highest, catch, yardage and target total of the season. He's worth a pickup in two-TE leagues, but he's not a very safe play until further notice.
Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers (owned in 29 percent of leagues)
Miller didn't play Week 1 and the word on the street is that he might not be back until Week 6. He's only a stash in deep two-TE leagues. The good news is that the Steelers O was ugly on Sunday, so he'll be a welcomed sight upon his return.
