Geno Smith proves why no fantasy owner should pick him up

Jim Rogash

A quarterback rating of 27.6 should tell you all you need to know about Geno Smith's second career game. We break down the fantasy implications.

Geno Smith completed 15-of-35 passes for 214 yards, three interceptions and no touchdowns in Week 2 against the Patriots. He was sacked four times on Thursday night and hit another nine by the Patriots defense.

Smith's receivers didn't do him any favors, dropping several passes throughout the game. But it was clear he wasn't up for the first road game of his career.

Fantasy impact: This was a game everyone hopes they can forget. Neither side played well. Smith's footwork was poor at times, and he held onto the ball far too long with pressure coming at him constantly.

Going forward, the rookie needs to work on spotting open targets. Stephen Hill was wide open after sprinting up the seam into the end zone at one point, but Smith missed him completely. Fantasy owners shouldn't pay any attention to him.
