Fantasy football rankings, Week 3: RBs for PPR and Standard Leagues

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The running backs are starting to get injured and some owners might be in a pickle this week. Check out how we rank Week 3 running backs for fantasy football.

Some things in life are unavoidable. You're going drop your cell phone, your car battery is going to die on the hottest day of the year, or you're going to lose some running backs to injury. However, these issues can be dampened with the proper precautions, like buying a phone case, keeping jumper cables, or most importantly, owning some handcuffs. This past week a few running backs went down and all of them have tremendous handcuffs. Let's take a look at the backs that were injured in Week 2.

Steven Jackson -- The Falcons are going to be without their newly-acquired tailback on Sunday. Jacquizz Rodgers is going to take over most of the duties behind and next to Matt Ryan. He saw 11 snaps compared to Jason Snelling's two. Jackson could be back soon, but since he was ruled out on Tuesday and his number of injuries, there's a good chance Quizz could see time in Week 4.

Maurice Jones-Drew -- The Jaguars are optimistic to face the Seahawks. Quite frankly, the word "optimistic" and Jaguars do not belong in the same sentence. The Seahawks opened as 19.5-point favorites and it's not because of their offense. There's a good chance Jacksonville gets shut out.

Ray Rice -- The reigning Super Bowl champs could be without their best offensive weapon on Sunday since Rice suffered a hip flexor strain in Week 2. It's probable that he will miss practice and should be questionable, but the team not ordering an MRI is encouraging. He should have a lighter load against a strong Texans run D. Bernard Pierce has to be owned and would be a must-start with Rice on the sidelines.

Reggie Bush - Bush is dinged up ... again. He had a slew of injuries in Week 1, and his knee injury in Week 2 was a little more severe. After two fairly healthy years in Miami, he isn't exactly starting off on the right foot in Detroit.  He could be a game-time decision on Sunday and it would be the Joique Bell show as a must-start player.
