Victor Cruz dominant, Hakeem Nicks quiet fantasy performer in Giants loss

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Victor Cruz had a big performance in Week 4, while Hakeem Nicks struggled once again. We break down the fantasy implications.

The New York Giants continued their disappointing start to the 2013 season, but fantasy football owners can take pleasure in Victor Cruz's huge Week 4 performance. Cruz caught ten passes for 164 yards and a touchdown, including a 69-yard catch and run for a score. Cruz was Eli Manning's primary weapon all day long, getting 16 targets.

On the other hand, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks continued his recent slump. Nicks finished the game with 33 yards on three receptions. It was an improvement on his goose egg the week before, but Nicks has fallen far from his pre-season hype.

Fantasy impact: The Giants now 0-4 season has quickly turned into a train wreck, but Victor Cruz has been able to rise above the mess. Cruz was quiet last week with only 25 yards, but Sunday's performance gives him three 100+ yard receiving efforts in four games this season.

Eli Manning threw nine passes in Hakeem Nicks' direction, but the Giants receiver continues to give Manning more reason to focus his attention on Cruz. And considering Rueben Randle and Brandon Myers were virtually invisible, Cruz is the only viable fantasy option on the Giants at the moment.
