David Wilson set to carry the load for fantasy owners

David Wilson is the unchallenged starter for the Giants and should see a heavy workload on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

New York Giants running back David Wilson will get most of the carries in Sunday's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants were expected to split carries between Wilson and Andre Brown, with Brown getting most of the work on third downs and goal line situations. That plan got derailed when Brown broke his leg, so now the team will go with Wilson as the feature back. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride would not specify the number of touches Wilson will get, but he indicated that the Giants will lean on him. From the New York Daily News:

"But we'd like to see David go out and have a bang-up game, make a couple of big plays for us, and give us what we hope and feel he's capable of - a couple of dynamic plays and some athletic plays that not everybody can do."

Fantasy impact: People have been predicting a breakout year for Wilson ever since his uneven rookie season. Brown's injury gives him an even bigger role in the offense, and he should be the unchallenged leader in touches. Brown is a safe fantasy play this week against a Cowboys defense that will be without Anthony Spencer and Jay Ratliff.
