Justin Forsett injury update: 'Questionable status is irrelevant in fantasy

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Forsett is questionable to play in Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jaguars running back Justin Forsett (toe) is questionable to face the Chiefs on Sunday. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, has battled turf toe and should be ready to go.

Forsett was brought on from Houston this offseason and was expected to be Maurice Jones-Drew's back. However, he's been outplayed by Jordan Todman in training camp. Forsett did have a sterling 5.9 yards per carry last season with the Texans, so this battle for the backup rushes is not over yet.

Fantasy impact: Considering Jones-Drew is coming off a serious foot injury, fantasy owners will want to monitor how the backup role shakes out. Forsett doesn't really project as a feature back since he's a little undersized, but he's an adept pass catcher that can help Blaine Gabbert as a security blanket. When push comes to shove, Todman figures to be a better player to own for his higher upside.
