Anquan Boldin goes off for fantasy owners in his 49ers debut

Anquan Boldin catches a pass over Jerron McMillian of the Green Bay Packers - Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Anquan Boldin had a fantastic gameday and fantasy football outing in his 49ers season debut, racking up 208 receiving yards. We bring you the fantasy implications.

Anquan Boldin was simply fantastic in his season debut with the San Francisco 49ers, making fantasy owners cheer and his old team the Ravens tear with 13 receptions for 208 yards and one touchdown against Green Bay. Boldin looks to be completely comfortable in the 49ers offense and he is already on the same page with new quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick targeted him 17 times in his first game, which was by far the most targets of any 49ers receiver including Vernon Davis who was next with nine targets.

Fantasy impact: Boldin may be 32 but he showed no signs of slowing down. He was all over the place Sunday in the 49ers offense and the Packers' defense had difficulty accounting for him even after he started making plays. While Boldin may not yet be considered a WR1, he certainly put up comparable numbers. He should be considered a solid WR2 start in any fantasy league and could move up to WR1 territory with another fantastic game. The 49ers travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks and their tough secondary in Week 2, but Boldin should still be considered a solid start.
