Shonn Greene hopeful to play in Week 2, still not a fantasy threat

Shonn Greene says his knee injury isn't serious and he hopes to play next week. We break down the fantasy implications.

Tennessee Titans running back Shonn Greene says that his knee is "sore" but the injury isn't expected to be serious. Head coach Mike Munchak hopes that he will be ready to play in next week's game against the Houston Texans.

Greene left Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a knee injury and did not return. Jackie Battle took over as the main goal line back and got a three yard touchdown in Tennessee's win over the Steelers. Before the injury, Greene rushed for 18 yards on four carries and played

Fantasy impact: Not much to see here unless your team is already in dire straits after one week. Greene isn't a starter, but Battle's usage suggests that he will get plenty of goal line work in the Titans' run-heavy offense. That makes him a decent candidate to vulture touchdowns from Chris Johnson, but Greene still isn't a serious fantasy option outside of the deepest leagues. He's a mere handcuff to Johnson, nothing more.
