New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis' season is over. Patriots beat writer Jim McBride took to social media to report that Lewis has a torn ACL and is out for the season.
Lewis was in the midst of a breakout season before his injury in Week 9. Through seven games, Lewis had 234 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He was instrumental as a pass catcher out of the backfield, totaling 36 receptions for 388 yards and two more touchdowns. Running back LeGarrette Blount will likely continue as the team's lead running back, with Brandon Bolden and James White working behind Blount for change-of-pace duties.
Fantasy impact: Lewis' injury is a huge blow for fantasy owners. He was one of the more reliable running backs the Patriots have delivered to fantasy owners as of late. Bolden and White will be difficult to trust, as the Patriots could decide to take a committee approach behind Blount, who may be the only real beneficiary here in terms of consistent workload.
