New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is being featured in more pass-catching situations in practice of late, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett. Ingram was targeted in the passing game 36 times last season.
Fantasy Impact: Ingram's increased pass-catching duties are mainly the result of teammate C.J. Spiller being out due to a knee injury. While Ingram is more than capable of handling a heavy workload -- which he proved last season -- Spiller is setting up to be the most used rusher through the air.
That should suit Ingram just fine as he does most of his damage on the ground anyway. Ingram breakout season came in 2014 and he ran for 964 yards on 226 carries and scored nine touchdowns despite missing three games due to a hand injury.
Fantasy owners should have Ingram high on their draft list, keeping in mind that he will be the feature back in New Orleans even with Spiller and Khiry Robinson making smaller yet definitive contributions along the way.
