Free-agent wide receiver Jarrett Boykin is expected to sign with the Green Bay Packers, according to the Milwaukee-Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein. Boykin was cut by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact: In 13 games with Green Bay last year, Boykin caught just three passes for 12 yards. After a 2013 season that was much more productive, it seemed that Boykin's chance to become a regular part of Green Bay's wide receiver rotation had passed him by.
If he does indeed end up back with the Packers, he'll be behind Randall Cobb and Davante Adams in the rotation. Should the Packers opt not to sign Boykin, fellow former Packers James Jones and Jeremy Ross -- who are said to be on the bubble with the New York Giants and Detroit Lions, respectively -- could be potential suitors.
Fantasy owners may be tempted to nab whichever of the trio ends up back at Lambeau Field dawning the green and gold just to have a piece of the Packers' passing game. That may be worth the gamble in deeper leagues but keep in mind that anybody coming into the picture would also be competing with rookie Ty Montgomery, who has impressed the coaching staff this summer.
