One of the more concerning subplots from this year’s preseason has been the health of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown. Brown suffered a concussion early in training camp, which has kept him on the shelf for several weeks and cost him the first three preseason games.
Brown was cleared to practice last week in a limited fashion, but the concussion symptoms appear to be lingering. Head coach Bruce Arians told reporters on Monday that Brown is still suffering from headaches. With the regular season just two weeks away, Brown’s availability could be a big question mark for Week 1.
Fantasy impact: Maybe it’s not time to hit the panic button yet, but it has to be concerning that Brown is still experiencing problems nearly a month after the concussion. When healthy, the third-year receiver is a strong fantasy WR3 with game-breaking upside, but fantasy owners have to take his injury risk into account when they do their drafts this week.
Perhaps we’ll learn more about Brown’s status when the Cardinals officially begin regular season practice next week, but it’s far from a guarantee.
