2012 Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has added four players to the Team USA roster. Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker, and Steve Stricker will be representing their country against golfers from Europe on Sept. 28-30 at Medinah Country Club.
The new members will join Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, and Phil Mickelson on the American squad.
Team Europe, captained by Jose Maria Olazabal, will feature Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Paul Lawrie, Graeme McDowell, Francesco Molinari, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, Peter Hanson, Martin Kaymer, Nicolas Colsaerts, and Ian Poulter.
The Europeans are the defending champions in the event, after taking the title in 2010 at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales. That year, they had to fend off a comeback from the Americans to come out on top.
The U.S. last won in 2008. Europe has won four of the last five Ryder Cups.

On Monday, the PGA of America announced that Davis Love III will captain the United States' Ryder Cup team in 2012. This comes a day after José María Olazábal was chosen to serve as captain for the European team. From the Miami Herald:
"From his Ryder Cup rookie year in 1993 to today, Davis has performed so well under pressure and now brings that experience to lead our next United States team and win back the Ryder Cup," said PGA of America president Allen Wronowski in a statement.
Davis, age 46, has one major tournament title under his belt, the 1997 PGA Championship. He has a total of 20 career PGA Tour wins. He's already hinted at the approach he plans to take as captain:
"What we have been missing is getting over the nerves of being ready to play on the biggest stage. We've just tried too hard and I'll be trying to get the players as relaxed and freed up as I can. I am a players' captain and I'm going to get them what they need to be successful. I'm not going to tell the best players in the world how to play golf. I'm going to let them show their talents."
The next Ryder Cup will take place at Medinah Country Club near Chicago on September 28th through 30th of 2012. For more, check out SB Nation's golf blog, Waggle Room.
