The first round of the 2011 Honda Classic is in the books and a fresh face leads the tournament, followed closely by a few of the PGA Tour's more well-known names. Spencer Levin, a six-year tour veteran, has a one-shot lead heading into the second round after firing a 3-under 67 on Thursday. Stuart Appleby and Y.E. Yang are tied for second with three others, one shot off the pace. Matt Kuchar is two shots back, with Lee Westwood lurking at even-par, three shots off the pace.
Luke Donald, winner of last week's Accenture Match Play Championship, had a rough start, shooting a 3-over 73, six shots off the pace. His player partner, defending champion Camillo Villegas, didn't fare much better, shooting a 9-over 79, 12 shots back of Levin. The full leaderboard can be found here.
The second round gets underway early on Friday morning, with groups going off both the first and 10th tees at PGA National beginning at 6:50 a.m. Westwood tees off on the first tee at 12:33 p.m.. along with Ernie Els, Appleby, Donald and Villegas tee off at 12:24 p.m., with Kuchar and Yang teeing off at 12:33 p.m., as well.
