On Friday, Steve Stricker found top form halfway through his third round. Thanks in part to a hole in one, the PGA Tour veteran now finds himself on top of the Memorial Tournament leaderboard.
Stricker's ace (you can see video of the shot here) came on the eighth hole. He now stands at 9-under for the tournament, good for a three-stroke lead. Stricker, age 44, has won nine PGA Tour events in his career, four of which were won within the last two years.
The best round of the day was had by Rod Pampling, who shot a 6-under for the day while avoiding bogeys altogether. Entering Saturday's play, the Australian sits in a four-way tie for second place.
Here is how the top of the leaderboard looks after the second round.
1. Steve Stricker (-9)
T2. Ricky Barnes (-6)
T2. Rod Pampling
T2. Jonathan Byrd
T2. Rory McIlroy
6. Six tied (-5)
