Rory McIlroy has breathing room atop the current World Golf Rankings.
This past weekend's Ryder Cup didn't have any effect on the World Golf Rankings, but with the PGA Tour ready to embark on its final four events of the 2012 season, it's a good time to look at the current World Golf Rankings.
Rory McIlroy remains in first. He won the PGA Championship in August and two tournaments, the Deutsche Bank Championship and BMW Championship, in September. He has a sizable lead on Tiger Woods, who is ranked No. 2 in the world. Woods hasn't won a tournament since July, but his steady play since then has allowed him to creep back up the rankings. He holds a slim lead over third ranked Luke Donald, who held the top spot for much of the year. Donald hasn't won since March and has only one finish inside the top 30 at the major championships in 2012.
Here is the current top 10 heading into the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas:
- Rory McIlroy
- Tiger Woods
- Luke Donald
- Lee Westwood
- Justin Rose
- Adam Scott
- Bubba Watson
- Webb Simpson
- Jason Dufner
- Brandt Snedeker
