Arjun Atwal surged up the leaderboard Friday after turning in a total of eight birdies on the day.
India's Arjun Atwal was in the zone Friday morning, logging a 7-under 63 at the McGaldrey Classic to put him on top with two days remaining.
Atwal started hot with three straight birdies on the back nine before adding five more from the 17th on. At 10-under overall, Atwal leads Davis Love III and Jim Furyk by a stroke, with both Americans also turning in solid rounds Friday.
Love logged a four-under 66 as he continues his search for his first tour win in almost four years. Love also added six more birdies and is now tied for the tournament lead in birdies with 12.
As for Furyk, the 42-year-old veteran managed to avoid any bogeys Friday while chipping in five birdies. Furyk now only has one bogey through his first two rounds of the tournament.
Thursday's co-leader Bud Cauley dropped three spots, with a round of one bogey and one birdie, but still remains in the thick of things. Overall, there are 11 players that are only three strokes or less behind Atwal for the tournament lead.
