Smack down! Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley engage in pre-2014 Ryder Cup trash talk

Thursday’s naming of Tom Watson as captain of the 2014 U.S. Ryder Cup team sparked a swell of reactions from golfers and analysts alike. The cheekiest, however, came from Rory McIlroy, who accepted Keegan Bradley’s enthusiastic acclamation of Watson’s captaincy as a chance to get in a dig -- two years ahead of the next contest.

This year’s PGA winner, of course, almost missed his tee time for Sunday’s singles finale and then went on to beat the 2011 PGA champ, 2 and 1, in September’s contest at Medinah. The two are likely to meet again at Gleneagles in Scotland but it would seem the world No. 1 was already 1-up on Bradley after that tweet.
