The 2013 PGA Tour regular season tees off this week at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions from the beautiful Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii.
Defending champion Steve Stricker returns for one of the select few tournaments he will play this year, following an announcement he made earlier in the month. Stricker plans to take time to be with his family and to support his new foundation geared toward helping college-bound students fund their education.
An elite field of 30 players will compete in the event set to begin on Friday morning, January 4. Only those players who won a tournament in 2012 are eligible to play this week. Notable names competing include Masters champion Bubba Watson, US Open champ Webb Simpson, and FedEx Cup winner Brandt Snedeker.
A handful of international players will also be in Kapalua, including Carl Pettersson, Jonas Blixt, Ian Poulter and Mark Leishman.
Players will be competing for the winner's share ($1.2 million) of the tournament's $5.7 million purse.
