Franklin Templeton Shootout 2012 results: O'Hair and Perry hold on to win

Bob Donnan-USPRESSWIRE

Sean O'Hair and Kenny Perry had to hold off a furious rally by Charles Howell III and Rory Sabbatini to take the Franklin Templeton Shootout.

Sean O'Hair and Kenny Perry barely held off Charles Howell III and Rory Sabbatini on Sunday at the Franklin Templeton Shootout to take the tournament. The duo finished with a 31-under score for the weekend, one better than their challengers.

O'Hair and Perry had a great day on Saturday to take a two-shot lead into the final day, which looked like a semi-comfortable lead with the way they were playing. They even turned in a 12-under final round, but Howell III and Sabbatini were scalding hot and shot 15-under on Sunday to make things tough on the eventual winners.

The scramble format used on Sunday made for low scoring all afternoon. Jason Dufner and Vijay Singh shot a 13-under on the day to claim third and Jerry Kelly and Steve Stricker went 14-under to move into a tie for third. They shared the place with Stewart Cink and Carl Pettersson and first rounder leaders David Love III and Brandt Snedeker, all of whom were 27-under for the weekend.
