Northern Trust Open 2012: Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley Birdie On 18 To Force Playoff

Bill Haas took the lead at the end of the front nine before promptly giving it back to Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley with consecutive bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes. He was seemingly out of the running at the 2012 Northern Trust Open, but Bradley and Mickelson faltered on the putting green in the back nine, recording two bogies each. Haas birdied on 17 to make himself the leader going into the clubhouse with two holes left to play for the final pairing.

Mickelson faced long odds, down a stroke to Haas and needing a 27-foot putt for birdie on 18 to force a playoff. He put just enough on the ball from the edge of the green, however, causing an uproar from the gallery as the ball fell into the cup. Not to be outdone, Bradley gave an emphatic fist pump as his birdie putt rolled in, albeit from roughly half the distance as Mickelson's.

All three golfers finished regulation at 7-under. It has been a back-and-forth battle all day. Stay tuned as we give you more from the tournament.
