WGC-Cadillac Championship 2012: Justin Rose Captures Title After Bubba Watson Falters

Stay connected with SB Nation

After leading for almost the entirety of the first three rounds of the WGC-Cadillac Championship, Bubba Watson shot a two-over 74 on Sunday, collapsing and allowing Justin Rose to storm in front and take the trophy. Watson was two strokes ahead of Rose entering fourth round play, but Watson shot five bogeys to just three birdies, which is the formula for blowing a lead on Sunday.

The story of the day, however, was Tiger Woods, who had been out of contention, withdrawing due to an Achilles injury. Without Woods there, the end of the tournament lacked drama. Rose didn't exactly light the world on fire to win — he shot just two-under, but no one made a late charge to push him. He finished at -16, Watson at -15 and Rory McIlroy finished in third place at -14, shooting a five-under for the day.
