2012 RBC Heritage Leaderboard: Carl Pettersson Stays Strong, Holds 5 Stroke Lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

Carl Pettersson hasn't done much since posting birdies on three of his first five holes, but he's maintained what looks to be an insurmountable lead, being up five strokes on Zach Johnson through 14.

Pettersson missed a shot at a birdie with his long putter that would've put him at 16-under for the tourney, but it doesn't seem it will matter much. The real battle is for second: Johnson is still holding on to the spot at 10-under after a bogey on the 10th put him a stroke further from the lead. Pettersson's partner, Colt Knost, who led through 36, started the day one stroke off the lead at 11-under, but his day hasn't gotten any better on the back nine after a front that included a triple bogey. He followed suit with bogeys on 10 and 12, but a long birdie putt on 13 has him at 9-under. Boo Weekley didn't do himself any favors by double-bogeying the par-3 14th - he missed the green, gambled and failed, then missed an additional bogey putt. He's at 7-under, now even for the day through 15.
