Stay connected with SB Nation

As the 2012 Masters is set to begin play on Thursday, there has already surprisingly been a withdraw from the annual tournament. Dustin Johnson will not be competing in the 2012 Masters due to an injury, a tweaked back, as Jason Sobel of the Golf Channel tweets.

Sobel tweeted immediately after that the injury that forced Johnson's withdrawal was a tweaked back. That means that there will be one less player in the Masters field, as no one will take Johnson's spot. Johnson was set to tee off on Thursday, but his official tee time was not released at the time of his WD.
