The sports world will remember Junior Seau for his 20-year career as an All-Pro linebacker with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots. But the tough guy on the gridiron showed his softer side in a brief stint as a caddie for LPGA Tour star Natalie Gulbis.
A 19-year NFL veteran and reserve LB for the Patriots when he looped for Gulbis during the 2009 pro-am portion of the LPGA’s Safeway Classic, Seau hoisted the telegenic golfer’s luggage for an episode of his Versus TV show, "Sports Jobs with Junior Seau."
"From reading greens to reading mines, I’m gonna learn it all," Seau said ahead of his turn as Gulbis’ ball-shagger. "Then I’ll work a full loop at legendary Pumpkin Ridge as Natalie takes on one of the best golfers in the world, Michelle Wie."
Seau, who died of an apparent suicide on Wednesday, was also a philanthropist with a golf club. His annual Junior Seau Celebrity Golf Classic, which celebrated its 20th anniversary at La Costa Resort & Spa in March, raised funds for troubled youth.
