When she’s not exhibiting her prowess on the playing field as the fifth-ranked woman golfer in the world, the LPGA’s Suzann Pettersen spends a lot of time in the gym, and it shows. Now, the eight-time tour winner will let the world see how all those squats, all that stretching and all that resistance training have paid off, when she poses nude in ESPN The Magazine’s upcoming fourth annual “Body Issue.”
“I guess the news has come out!” @suzannpettersen tweeted Wednesday. “Yes, I am one of the athletes in ESPN's body issue! It was a different experience but an honor to be asked!”
Pettersen is one in a long line of golfers -- including colleagues Sandra Gal, Anna Grzebien and Christina Kim, as well as PGA Tour star Camilo Villegas -- who have shared their secrets in previous editions of the sports rag. More recently, Natalie Gulbis generated a good deal of heat when she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue wearing nothing but a smile and a thin layer of body paint, in the form of a green-and-white polka-dot bikini, between her and the camera lens.
For the upcoming ESPN magazine, scheduled to hit newsstands on July 13, Pettersen will share the stage with 26 other athletes, including New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, U.S. women’s soccer star Abby Wambach, and Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista.
