The Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario, was host to the 2012 RBC Canadian Open over the past few days. On Sunday, the final round was played and Scott Piercy was able to have one solid last round, overtaking Robert Garrigus to claim the title.
Garrigus entered Sunday as the leader, thanks in part to a massive 6-under round on Saturday. As the final round began, Garrigus was in the lead at 16-under, William McGirt was in second at 15-under and Piercy was in third at 14-under. At the end of the day, Garrigus was still at 16-under, but it wasn't quite enough to net the win.
Piercy shot 3-under for the day, scoring four straight birdies at the beginning of his day on holes two through five. Piercy bogeyed on holes eight and 14, putting him at 16-under and tied with Garrigus. Garrigus, meanwhile, made par on every hole until finally scoring a birdie on 14, moving him back into the lead at 17-under, but bogeyed on hole 16. Piercy managed one last birdie on hole 15 to reclaim a one-stroke lead and Garrigus was unable to tie the rest of the way.
McGirt shot 1-under for the day, finishing in a tie for second place with Garrigus.

Robert Garrigus inched closer to what could be his second career PGA Tour win on Saturday, shooting an impressive 6-under 64 in the third round of the RBC Canadian Open. Garrigus entered the day in second place, one shot behind Scott Piercy and William McGirt, but outplayed them on Saturday. Garrigus now has the lead by himself at 16-under par.
McGirt, who started the day at 11-under, shot a 66 on Saturday and sits at 15-under par, one stroke behind Garrigus. Piercy shot a 67 and is 14-under for the tournament. They're being chased by a contingent of three players who sit at 12-under par through three rounds: Scott Stallings, Chris Kirk and Bo Van Pelt.
A few big names made it to the weekend at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, but they haven't remained in contention. Vijay Singh and Retief Goosen are both 9-under par. Charl Schwartzel is 2-under, while Hunter Mahan is 1-over.

Scott Piercy and William McGirt entered the weekend tied for the lead at the RBC Canadian Open, and through the turn on Saturday, the two remain neck and neck atop the leaderboard, both having made the turn at three-under for the day and -14 on the tournament, but Robert Garrigus has caught up, birdieing the ninth hole for a four-under front nine.
The three are all in the final pairing, but they're not without some competition. The conditions at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario have been favorable, and Chris Kirk has taken advantage, shooting a scorching seven-under through the first 14 holes, and he now finds himself just two strokes back of the tri-leaders. Behind Kirk is Josh Teaters at -11 on the tournament, three strokes back, and Bud Cauley and Vijay Singh are tied at -10.

William McGirt and Scott Piercy are tied atop the leaderboard at the 2012 RBC Canadian Open after shooting 4-under and 3-under, respectively, to reach 11-under overall Friday. Piercy entered the day in sole possession of first place after shooting two eagles Thursday. On Friday, a bogey on No. 9 kept him from keeping the lead for himself.
McGirt shot 4-under on the back nine, at one point making three straight birdies. Robert Garrigus also shot 4-under to move to 10-under overall and just one shot off the leaders. Vijay Singh and Tim Clark are tied in fourth place at 8-under overall.
Clark has already shot the lowest round of the day so far at 8-under through 16 holes. He has jumped 62 spots on the leaderboard, and has a chance to inch even closer to the leaders with three holes still to play.

Scott Piercy's an unlikely leader for any PGA Tour event. His 8-under 62 in the first round of the 2012 RBC Canadian Open has given him the lead heading into Friday, though.
Piercy made two eagles, five birdies and just one bogey on Thursday at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, setting a new course record and establishing a one-shot lead on Greg Owen. Piercy began both his front and back nines with three consecutive pars, then played the final six holes of each stretch in 4-under.
Piercy's a bit of a late bloomer: After turning pro in 2001, he didn't earn his PGA Tour card until 2009, and only has one win on tour, the 2011 Reno-Tahoe Open. But he's got a number of top-20 finishes in 2012, and two top-fives, including a solo third place finish at the John Deere Classic just two weeks ago.

As the opening round of the 2012 RBC Canadian Open nears its conclusion, PGA Tour journeyman Greg Owen currently leads the pack at 7-under.
Owen, one of the lesser known players on tour, dazzled spectators with a scorecard that included eight birdies and one eagle en route to an opening-round 63. His round would have been even lower had it not been for a double-bogey on hole No. 10, followed by another dropped shot at No. 11. Had Owen scored par on those two holes, he would have recorded a season-low 60 for his round.
Tour veteran Robert Garrigus sits just one shot off the pace at 6-under for the day as he plays the back nine. Garrigus, traditionally one of the longest drivers on tour, is one pace to shoot a bogey-free round of 64 should he maintain his momentum.

The 2012 RBC Canadian Open is underway in Ancaster, Ontario, and players are once again going low to start Thursday's opening round. Troy Matteson is the current leader in the clubhouse after firing a 5-under-par 65; however, former Masters champion Charl Schwartzel is also 5-under through his first fourteen holes.
Matteson's round consisted of seven birdies and two bogeys en route to his 65 while hitting 57 percent of his fairways and 67 percent of greens in regulation. Fellow golf enthusiasts will remember that Matteson was also an early leader at the John Deere Classic earlier in the month before faltering on the weekend.
Recently-crowned British Open champion Ernie Els will begin his round at 1:10 p.m. EDT and is paired with veterans Vijay Singh and Matt Kuchar.
