WGC Bridgestone Invitational 2012: Tiger Woods Can Return To World No. 1

Not only can Tiger Woods become the first man to win eight times on the same PGA Tour golf course with a victory this week at Firestone C.C., he can also regain the top-ranking on the Official World Golf Rankings.

Englishman Luke Donald still holds the coveted rank as of this time, and can likely maintain his top ranking should he finish in the top three this week at the Bridgestone, even if Tiger pulls off the victory. However, Woods (currently ranked No. 2 on the list) certainly has an immense amount of confidence going into Thursday's opening round, after having played well most of the 2012 season.

Woods dropped to as low as 58 on the official list in 2010 but has since climbed his way back up to his current position thanks to three tour victories and a slew of strong finishes in 2012.
