Deutsche Bank Championship 2012: Woods Tied With Overton At The Top

Stay connected with SB Nation

After a long, thrilling morning at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Tiger Woods finished atop the leaderboard, firing a seven-under 64 in Round 1.

Tied with him is fellow American Jeff Overton, who made an incredible six birdies in his final seven holes to catch up with Woods. Overton missed the cut at last week's Barclays, but a win this weekend would vault him into contention in the FedEx Cup.

Tiger held sole possession of the lead before bogeying his final hole of the day. It was his only bogey in an excellent round that featured eight birdies, including five in a row.

The afternoon groups are still out there, and scores continue to be low. Leading the afternoon pack is Ryan Moore, who shot an impressive 30 (-6) on the front nine. He is currently making the turn. Conditions at TPC Boston are ideal for scoring.
