The Tour Championship: Jim Furyk Holds Lead, Rory McIlroy Back To Projected FedExCup Winner

Jim Furyk maintains his lead in the 2012 TOUR Championship after starting his day with eight straight pars. Furyk holds a one-shot lead over a quartet of players at 6-under, including the hard-charging Ryan Moore, Bubba Watson, and Brandt Snedeker.

Moore is one of the streakier players on Tour, immensely talented and always capable of winning every time he tees it up. He carded five birdies through his first 10 holes and has yet to make a bogey.

Snedeker, who will play with Furyk next week at the Ryder Cup, is 4-under through his first 12 holes. Snedeker has one of the best putters in the game and he has yet to make a bogey on Saturday. He is one of five players who controls his own destiny, so a win would automatically deliver the $10 million prize.

Rory McIlroy is currently the projected Playoffs winner, after moving into a tie for sixth through his first 11 holes. McIlroy made the turn with a birdie at No. 10, pushing him to 4-under and three shots back of Furyk.

After an ugly Friday round, Tiger Woods is in the red and has jumped back into the top 10. Woods is 2-under through 14 holes, and four shots back of Furyk. Woods will need to leapfrog McIlroy at some point if he wants a shot at the FedExCup title.

Half the field is still under par at the home of Bobby Jones and, as we've seen this week, low rounds are available so anyone can jump up and steal it. But if Furyk and McIlroy hold steady, they'll pick up two new trophies on Sunday afternoon.
