U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, PGA Champion Rory McIlory and Bo Van Pelt have climbed to the top of the leaderboard at the 2012 BMW Championship, however Tiger Woods remains close behind.
All three leaders recorded an 8-under 64 at Crooked Stick Thursday afternoon, leaving them two shots ahead of Tiger Woods (6-under).
Simpson's bogey-free round included a stretch of four-straight birdies on hole Nos. 14-18. Van Pelt did most of his birdie work on Crooked Stick's par fours and fives while playing each par-3 at even par. McIlory's round included seven birdies (including his final hole of the day), one bogey and an eagle on the par-5 no. 15 hole.
Woods stumbled with two bogeys during his round at hole nos. 4 and 14, but his nine birdies on the day helped him save a 6-under 66, his fifth consecutive sub-70 round.
