Golf fans will have to jam their fingers in their ears for the next six U.S. Opens now that ESPN has made it official and announced that Chris Berman will torture TV viewers for, reportedly, much of the rest of the decade. Berman’s nauseatingly outdated cultural references, skull-imploding puns, and wheezing broadcasting style had the Twitterati in a frenzy with his coverage of the 2012 Open.
Well, sports fans, sharpen up your anti-Boomer quips because the "Human Vuvezela," as Golf Digest’s John Strege labeled everybody’s favorite telecaster, will be back, back, back behind the mic for America’s national championship for the foreseeable future, beginning next year. To which we say, "#ShutUpBerman," and refer you to this tweetist, who summed it up for most of us when, during the Open in June, he begged, "Oh my god Chris Berman. #stoptalking."
