Rory McIlroy’s ugly duck hook captured on video

Matthew Lewis

Rory McIlroy’s duck hook during the first round of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship is about as errant as any shot No. 1 has ever hit.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy teamed up in October to film an amusing Swoosh-inspired ad, though the two were reportedly never on the same course at the same time. Now, Nike's cash cows are starring in two separate -- but equally embarrassing -- videos and we’re betting they wish they had an editor to leave these two shots on the cutting-room floor.

“Ohf!” exclaimed a Golf Channel announcer as McIlroy’s mishit skittered left of the grandstand. “That’s as ugly a shot as I’ve seen Rory hit in a long, long time. What happened there?”

Don’t ask Tiger. He had his own woes off the tee.

Woods and McIlroy will try again on Friday to shake off the obvious rust. Set the DVRs, because Act II of the Tiger & Rory Show kicks off Friday at 3:05 a.m. ET.
