The first round of the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Championship was briefly underway in rainy and windy Hawaii this afternoon. Due to inclement weather, the PGA Tour has decided to cancel the first round and move it to Saturday.
As a result, all scores will be wiped out and every player will have to play the full 18 holes regardless of how far they got on Friday. A majority of the field had already completed at least one hole. Before the round was cancelled, Webb Simpson led the field at minus-3 through seven holes. Jonas Blixt was minus-1 through five.
According to an official release from the PGA, play will resume at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. That's 7:30 a.m. locally. They will attempt to get a full 36 holes in, although bad weather is expected yet again. The tournament coordinators have not released a plan should the rain and wind cause for another lengthy delay over the weekend.
"The forecast is not favorable," said PGA TOUR official Slugger White. "But we're going to try."
