USA Presidents Cup mascot, Sammy the Squirrel, returned home by foster father Davis Love III

Matt Sullivan

We have a day 2 squirrel update from Muirfield Village.

A really important development this morning at the 2013 Presidents Cup: adopted American team mascot, Sammy the Squirrel, has gone home. Assistant captain Davis Love III told Golf Channel, per wildlife expert instructions, he was going to put Sammy, along with the box he's been staying in over the last 24 hours, up in a tree where his/her mother could come back and retrieve him/her.

And thankfully, Golf Channel was on it, providing indispensable coverage of the moment on its pregame show:

Godspeed, Sammy. For 24 hours, you captured the hearts and minds of the world ... except for Tiger Woods, who didn't care too much.
