Presidents Cup 2013: Pairings, match schedule for Saturday Four-ball

Andy Lyons

The captains pull a late switch on everyone, pushing off strategy until Saturday.

The second session of the Presidents Cup may not have finished, but both the American and International captains were set to announce the pairings and order for session three ... until a late audible was made.

The Friday set of six Foursomes matches could not finish before darkness, thanks to another lengthy rain delay. There are still four matches that need to finish, the last one is just through 11 holes. With those four points from session two still up for grabs, play will resume at Muirfield Village at 7:35 a.m. ET. Here's where those unresolved matches from Friday stand:

INTL 4up thru 11 Adam ScottHideki Matsuyama Jason DufnerZach Johnson

Those four remaining Foursomes will resume at 7:35 a.m., and then there will be an hour break before the Saturday Four-ball tees off.

There are 36 holes on the schedule for Saturday -- one session of five Four-ball matches and one afternoon session of five Foursomes matches.

Saturday is the first opportunity the captains had to leave two players on the bunch, with only 10 of 12 players on each side in action Saturday. The Captains were supposed to announce their five pairings and order for the morning Four-ball matches on Friday night, but then there was a sudden change:

And then moments later:

Jason Sobel of Golf Channel summed up the change pretty well:

The captains obviously want to see how some of the players finish in the morning before setting the pairings and deciding which two guys to sit. But it was still an odd moment. See you at 7:35 a.m.
