The officials at the Presidents Cup aren't taking any chances on Sunday, with plans to send out the first of 12 singles matches three hours earlier than their original start time. Inclement weather has hammered the Preisdents Cup on each of the first three days of competition, causing more than five hours of rain delays.
On Saturday alone, they had to finish four matches held over from Friday night, and then play two separate back-to-back five-match sessions. It was an ambitious schedule, and a midday rain delay ensured they would not finish before dark.
So they'll resume four remaining Foursomes matches at 7:35 a.m. ET, the last of which is just on the 10th hole. The plan is to then set the order and matchups for the 12 singles matches right at 8 a.m., with the first match going off at 9 a.m. ET. The singles were not supposed to start until Noon, on NBC, but with the potential for more rain in the forecast, they are building in extra time and just starting them as soon as possible in the morning.
NBC cannot rearrange its Sunday morning TV schedule, so Comcast sister network Golf Channel will come on the air at 7 a.m. ET for the second straight day to provide fill-in coverage. They will then be live for the Foursomes restart at 7:35 a.m., carrying coverage of the conclusion of that fourth session. There will be a break in the coverage, however, with the early singles matches starting before NBC comes on the air at Noon. They will then air a tape delayed broadcast of the singles session starting in the morning. Here's confirmation from the Tour:
With storms approaching, singles were moved up at the #PresCup. We'll have live updates on Twitter; NBC will be tape-delayed at Noon ET.
