Sang-Moon Bae and Fredrik Jacobson both shot 6-under on the day as they moved into a tie atop the leaderboard after two rounds at the Northern Trust Open on Friday.
Bae and Jacobson both have a slim one-stroke lead over John Merrick and John Rollins. Luke Donald is sitting at 7-under overall to round out the top five.
Bae birdied four straight from hole 10 to hole 13 but was a bit inconsistent throughout the day. He birdied nine holes, including hole 18 to take the lead, but also made bogey on three holes. Jacobson birdied seven holes and made bogey on hole 15, where Bae also went one-over par on.
Matt Kuchar, who started the day at the top of the leaderboard, had a rough go on the second round. Kuchar hit 2-over on Friday, dropping eight spots into a tie for ninth place with Ryan Moore at 5-under overall. Hole 15 reared its difficult head for Kuchar as well, as he double-bogeyed the hole. He also double-bogeyed the 10th hole and only picked up three birdies on the day.
Rollins' strong day kept him within striking distance of Bae and Jacobson. He hit 65 total to move up 15 spots into a tie for third place. Rollins had his troubles on hole 15 like everyone else, but made up for it with two consecutive birdies on holes 16 and 17.
