Rory McIlroy said in his professional career he had never seen anything like the snow that covered Dove Mountain with some two inches in about an hour on Wednesday. More than likely, he was also unprepared to be on the receiving end of a snowball, which his eventual first-round playing partner and good pal Shane Lowry fired his way as No. 1 chatted with a reporter.

“From my opponent,” McIlroy said after taking a fastball somewhere in the back.

With another snowstorm dumping two more inches on the Tucson, Ariz., venue, followed by a half inch of rain that froze into ice overnight, officials had to push back Thursday's play another two hours, setting a new start time of 12:30 p.m. ET.
