2013 Masters field: 88 qualifiers currently in for Augusta National in April

David Cannon

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson lead a deep crop of 87 players who have already qualified for the 2013 Masters.

The calendar has flipped to February which means the 2013 PGA Tour season is a full month into the schedule. The season's first major at Augusta National will be here soon enough, and much of the field has already been set for the 2013 Masters.

Augusta National's process for inviting players is, like everything else there, adherent to tradition. It's an atypical process compared to the other majors, giving deference to former champions and promoting amateurs in an homage to Bobby Jones, a founder of the club and tournament. The club does have the right to specially invite anyone, but it's rare for them to hand out invitations that are outside of the typical qualifying process. They've relaxed some of the stringent qualifying marks in recent years, and also handed out an occasional special invite, but it's still a very limited field for a major.

Golfers who are not currently in can still play their way into the field by either a) winning one of the nine eligible tournaments remaining before this year's Masters or b) moving into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings the week before The Masters. Or there's always c) getting a special invite from the membership. But as we saw last year with Ernie Els, those are hard to come by.

As of the first week of February, here's the full list of 87 qualifiers for the season's first major (in alpha order):
