2013 Masters: Rory McIlroy to have Caroline Wozniacki on bag for Par 3 Contest

Rory McIlroy has his game right where he wants it heading into this week’s Masters tourney and has almost talked his girlfriend into handling his luggage during Wednesday’s no-pressure par-3 tilt.

Rory McIlroy can thank his caddie JP Fitzgerald for convincing him, at the last minute, to add the Valero Texas Open to his pre-Masters schedule. Perhaps the world No. 2 enlisted his looper’s help in inducing his girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki to take the bag in Wednesday’s annual no-pressure, nine-hole warmup for the real event that kicks off the next day.

With his game rounding into form and his confidence soaring after firing a final-round 66 Sunday in San Antonio to finish in second behind a sizzling Martin Laird, McIlroy had his sights set on more immediate matters.

"It has taken a lot of encouraging but Caroline's about 95 percent agreed to caddie for me in the Par-3 Contest,” McIlroy told Sky Sports Sunday. "I've had my dad caddie before so it will be great to have Caroline with me this year.”

This week marks the first time Wozniacki will accompany McIlroy at a major, though she has definitely turned a lot of heads as Rory’s plus-one in several PGA Tour events up to now.

With other players spouses, kids, and assorted friends and family members toting the satchels on Wednesday, even a fashion “don’t” seemed not to deter Wozniacki from accepting McIlroy’s proposal.

"Since meeting her she is getting into golf so I'm sure she will enjoy the experience,” McIlroy said, “despite having to wear those white overalls."
