Sergio Garcia bids good riddance to Tiger Woods at 2013 Players Championship

Tied for the lead at TPC Sawgrass, Tiger and Sergio will play in the last two groups in Sunday’s finale of The Players Championship.

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia finished their weather-delayed third round Sunday morning as part of a three-way tie for the lead but, happily for both, the two antagonists will not be teeing it up together in the finale set for later today.

"I think it's good for both of us," Garcia told Golf Channel about landing in the ultimate pairing ahead of his good pal after completing his round at even-par 72 and coming up short once again to Woods, who shot a 1-under.

"We don’t enjoy each other’s company," Garcia added. "You don’t have to be a rocket engineer to figure that out so I think it’s probably good for both."

Garcia also noted that the two long-time arch enemies, who shared a perfunctory hand shake at the end of their 20th head-to-head matchup, did not talk about the kerfuffle that erupted Saturday when Sergio blamed Tiger for an errant shot on the second hole.

"No, not at all. I didn’t do anything wrong, so no I didn’t ," Garcia said. "I don’t want to say anything to him."

While Garcia is happy about the pairing being split up, he did not relent Sunday morning continued speaking candidly about the No. 1 player in the world:

Woods will go out in the penultimate pairing with Casey Wittenberg, who sits behind the leaders by one shot, at 10-under. Garcia, meanwhile, will bring up the rear and work his charm on the unsuspecting David Lingmerth.
