U.S. Open 2013 live stream: How to watch Thursday's round online

Andrew Redington

In addition to television and radio coverage, viewers will be able to watch some of Thursday's U.S. Open round online.

You don't need to have a TV or be at the Merion Golf Club to watch parts of the first round of the 2013 U.S. Open, because there are options for online and mobile streaming. Viewers won't be able to watch all of the action live via online streams, but they will be able to follow Thursday's two marquee groups.

The U.S. Open website has plans to provide an online and mobile stream of two star-packed groups in the first round. The first marquee trio on Thursday includes the pairing of Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker and Keegan Bradley teeing off at 7:11 a.m. ET.

Not many groupings have more star power than Thursday's second marquee group, when Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott tee off at 1:14 p.m. The trio has combined to win 17 major championships, including four U.S. Open titles. Woods accounts for the bulk of those victories with 14 major championships on his resume, whereas McIlroy won the 2011 U.S. Open and Scott is fresh off his win at the 2013 Masters. That trio will also be one of the headlining groups on Friday, as well, meaning viewers will be able to see every shot the three players hit in the first two rounds live via online streams.

Viewers will have a few options to watch Thursday's round online, as streams will be available on the Internet and via mobile devices. Those using a computer with Internet access can watch the streams at USOpen.com, the official website of the tournament.

Mobile users with Apple or Android products can watch Thursday's streams on the official U.S. Open apps. Earlier this month, the USGA launched official U.S. Open applications for iPad, iPhone and Android devices. The free apps include live streaming video of the marquee groups, as well as hole insights, scorecards, statistics and other information. The applications are available for download from the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Here is a look at the first-round coverage, including the available online streams. All times listed are Eastern:
