Tiger Woods is finally on the course at Merion and it's been a struggle early as Woods bogeyed two of the first three holes.
Woods' 2013 U.S. Open got off to a rough start as he blocked his tee shot on No. 1 to the right into thick rough. He was able to hit his second shot to the green, but well over the pin. After the shot, Woods grimaced and shook his wrist as he walked up the fairway. Woods' birdie putt came up well short and he missed the par putt, forcing him to settle for an opening-hole bogey.
He rebounded with a solid drive on No. 2. His second shot into the Par 5 ended up in a green side bunker, but Woods' bunker shot left an eight-foot birdie putt which he was able to make to get back to even par. His tee shot on the long Par 3 third hole rolled to the fringe and his chip came up well short. Woods had a difficult 15-foot putt to save par, but his effort just missed leading to his second bogey in three holes.
While Woods is struggling his playing partners have fared better. Rory McIlroy is even through three holes while Adam Scott is 1-under.
