2013 U.S. Open: Lee Westwood first victim to hit Merion's wicker basket flagsticks

The Englishman, who was co-leading, drills the top of Merion's quirky traditional flagsticks.

All week, there's been heard non-stop romanticizing of Merion's traditional wicker baskets that mark the holes instead of the typical flagsticks. But we've also all been waiting for someone to drill to top of the stick and catch a horrible break that otherwise wouldn't happen off a fabric flag. Well, co-leader, at the time, Lee Westwood is our first victim:
